MAGNESIUM:
Magnesium is a mineral vital for the proper functioning of the body. Minerals play an important role in building proteins and strong bones, regulating blood sugar, blood pressure, and muscle and nerve function. Magnesium also acts an electrical conductor that contracts muscles and makes the heart beat steadily.
Magnesium is required for energy production. It contributes to the structural development of bone and is required for the synthesis of DNA and RNA. Magnesium also plays a vital role in the active transport of calcium and potassium ions across cell membranes.
Magnesium is found in plant foods like legumes, dark green leafy vegetables, almonds, cashews, avocados, bananas, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, chia seeds, whole grains, kidney beans and fortified cereals. It is also present in salmon, poultry, and beef.
